We are happy to publish a new extensive history essay by the Austrian editor Martin Walter (Vienna). He has been translated into English once again by the editor of our widely acclaimed history section Eric Edelman, Amsterdam. Thanks to you both for this heavy mount of work!
Klick here to get to our "history-section"! It contains high-quality articles, researched on university level, but written for the wider gaming-Community.
Our historical new-year special 2007 deals with the Italian process of unification, which is named "Il Risorgimento". Martin does not only look at what Napoleon has to do with the unification of the Italian peninsula but also at the myths sorrounding it.
Massa and Eric have produced a very interesting and entertaining piece of historical writing. Don't miss this one out guys!
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a lovely time with your family and friends.
It has been a bit quiet around Cossacks2-net.de during the last weeks. Therefor are we happy that so many of you still klick us day by day. Thank you all a lot for that! By the way, we will continue a good old tradition and prepare a little Special together with Martin Walter for you. Take it as a surprise!
Yours,
Eric, Flo, Hipolit, Jansen & Samuel (the Cossacks2-net.de-Team)
We're very sorry that Cossacks2-net.de, THE LEAGUE and the connected mail servers haven't been available during the last three days due to some serious technical and security issues with the Gamershall server, which required a short time deactivation. We regret that it was impossible to inform you earlier. If you have sent us important stuff by e-mail in the last three days, please resend it!
At the moment Gamershall and Cossacks2-net.de technical staff have so far managed to reestablish most of the services, the board will be online soon! If you discover any dead links or problems with the sites and boards, we would be thankful if you'd let us know - they'll be fixed!
Due to the server problems, the players of THE LEAGUE's summer tournament will of course be given extra time to play their final matches. Thank you very much for your patience!
To celebrate this we've a couple of birthday-specials for you! The Austrian journalist Martin Walter (also known as [MM]Massa), with whom we're working together since more than two years now has written a new historical essay connecting AC Divided Nation with Battle for Europe: "Emperor" Maximilian and the modern history of Mexico". The English abstract, written by our editor and history buff Eric, is available in the History-Section. Read it out!
Today starts the summer tournament (played on 1.2) of Cossacks2-net.de THE LEAGUE. Cossacks2 players, who activated their accounts for season 3 will match with the "who is who" of C2 community such as Jarema, Martin Walter and last but not least Napoleonic Wars and Battle for Europe Producer Gregor "Crackor" Bellmann. For the Cossacks2-net.de Team Jansen, Hipolit, Golfisfun and me are on the run for glory and fun! All matches and results can be found from now on by klicking league.cossacks2-net.de. Enjoy!
By the way if you now feel like looking back to good old days or just want to smile a bit, why not check out our news archive (there are 266 news in there) - do you know how many times NW was postponed before its final release?
Due to the problem that only few league players are ready to play now in August (we have enough registrations but summer- and holliday time makes it maybe difficult for many to play), we have decided to postpone the start of season 3.
Therefore we'll take up 3rd official season of THE LEAGUE in late fall. Of course the seasonal fee will be repaid until then.
Nevertheless we're glad that some players have activated their accounts and we want to thank them by arranging a little, exclusive C2-summer tournament. Although it will be a fun tournament, we'll have some little prizes for the participants. The tournament will run on Cossacks2 Napoleonic Wars version 1.2 (the performance being optimized atm). The players will have the chance to match not only with other league players but also with some special guests like Jarema, some members of the Cossacks2-net.de Team and the journalist Martin Walter. We look forward to funny and hot battles. The summer tournament of the league will start Wednesday, August 9th (which is the 3rd birthday of Cossacks2-net.de) and will last for approximately 3 weeks. The participation is free but limited to players owning a player account for season 3. If you don't own an account yet but nevertheless want to participate, you have the chance to win two free starts for the tournament, which will be raffled among all players who inform me by mail (flo@cossacks2-net.de) until next Saturday.
After the successful release of the official Cossacks 2 Patch to version 1.2 on June 20th, Cossacks2-net.de THE LEAGUE is going to provide the improved C2 multiplayer experience.
Developed by Cossacks legend Mariusz "Jarema" Gadek in close cooperation with Cossacks2-net.de, CDV and GSC, the new version is going to build the fun base of season 3: Extensive bug-fixing, new comfort-features and a challenging new pro-balancing, everything is arranged. All info on the patch is of course available in our patch section; klick here for high-speed download.
The two last seasons, which were both caped by breath taking Europan Play-Offs, are in fact the best argument for our league-system now based on MP-optimized version 1.2. The 3rd league-dimension is now scheduled to start soon in the mid of July 2006! If you haven't registered yet, don't miss the final chance to do so in the next days!
Klick here to sign up for 3rd season on league.cossacks2-net.de. Become part of the international league community!
Even if this season's finalists will probably break with the tradition and miss GC 2006 in August due to the late release of patch 1.2 great prizes will be provided for the winners! Of course the players will again have access to league exclusive raffles. If you don't own Cossacks 2 Battle for Europe yet, you'll for instance have the chance to win one of three free copies, raffled among the league participants.
Moreover THE LEAGUE is happy to introduce a new moderator for 3rd season! Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome Dustin "Golfisfun" Paine as part of the team! He is going to moderate matches, post news - working together with the famous Lukasz Hipolit "the Hippo" Jaremko. If you have any questions concerning the upcoming season, please feel free to ask the team in the English League-Board.
So are you still counting bugs or have you already started training on 1.2?!
THE LEAGUE feat. Patch 1.2 - Experience the 3rd dimension!
After two days of extensive brooding, knowing and guessing^^, it's time to tell you the correct answers to the five more or less difficult question of our community-raffle.
The 1st question "How many missions includes the Frech Hundred Days Campaign?" was for many participants the most difficult one. The correct answer is five and not four as many of you guessed. It was hidden in one of our campaign screens - here is the proof.
The following four questions were less difficult but anyway there have been some little traps ...
2nd question: "What is the name of the two new skirmishmaps, which feature more than 2 nations in Multiplayer?" - this was a pretty easy one, the correct answers being "No Way Out" and "The Four Kings".
The 3rd questions couldn't be called difficult neither - it is posted almost 100 times on our site ... Question: Battle for Europe includes three new nations - which ones?
Answer: Of course "Spain, the Duchy of Warsaw and the Rhine Confederacy".
A bit tricky was the 4th question "In which building are the guard units trained (except for Egypt - where they are trained in the palace)?" the correct answer being "Fortress" and not "fort".
Almost all of you knew the answer to the last question "Which new building, which is featured by Patch 1.2, is also included in the Addon?" namely "heavy cavalry stables" - that's due to the addon being based on the new balancing concept of patch 1.2.
All in all 11 particpants have answered all questions correctly.
And the winners are ...
Our lucky ones, who were drawn by lot among those who have had the right answers, are Vagelis Fyssas from Piraeus, Greece & Alex Grasman from 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands! You'll get your English version of Cossacks 2 Battle for Europe sent by Cossacks2-net.de and CDV free to the door! Congratulations!
I hope that those who had the right answers and weren't lucky aren't too disapointed - anyway Cossacks 2 BfE is now available in stores!
Answer 5 questions around BfE correctly and you've the chance to win in the community raffle of Cossacks2-net.de and CDV one of two English versions of the Cossacks 2 Stand Alone Addon "Battle for Europe".
In order to find the answers to our questions it's worth looking carefully at the different parts of our exclusive BfE-series and the screenshots. If you've followed the series on Cossacks2-net.de regularly in the last weeks, it won't be too hard for you to find the right answers.
The raffle pops up, as soon as you enter the site. If the pop up doesn't work with you, please klick here.
You can only take party on June 27th and 28th. The winners and the right answers will be announced on Thursday. Good luck!
